Jammu, Mar 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly yesterday (Mar 13, 2006) unanimously adopted a resolution condemning Varanasi serial blasts including one at the Sankat Mochan temple on March 7.

Minister of Forest and Urban Development Tariq Hammed Karra moved the resolution, which was unanimously passed by the members condemning the act as inhuman and an attempt to hurt the secular traditions of the country. Describing the blasts as a crime against humanity, Mr Karra said perpetrators of violence had no faith no matter which religion they belonged to adding that their only intention was to kill and spill the blood of innocents.

He said, at a time when India and Pakistan had initiated talks, respecting the sentiments of people living on either side, it seemed that such elements did not want to make it happen. He, however, said people here had always exhibited great patience frustrating the designs of those who resorted to such provocative acts.

Appreciating the members for expressing their deep concern over the incident, he said it was the deep rooted secular traditions of india which distinguished it from the rest of the world adding that people of Jammu and Kashmir had always upheld the values as exhibited in this house today.

Earlier, the members said similar attempts were made in the state at several times by attacking religious places at jammu and people had exhibited patience defeating the designs of those who wanted to create communal hatred by resorting to such provocative acts.
