Installation of CCTV at religious places mooted
Allahabad, Mar 14: In the wake of the recent Varanasi bomb blasts, Allahabad Zone Police Inspector General A C Sharma has mooted the idea of installing security gadgets such as Close Circuit TVs (CCTVs) and hiring of security personnel at religious places.
At a meeting of religious heads of temples, gurdwaras, mosques and churches here, Mr Sharma advised them to arrange CCTVs, metal detectors and security personnel at their own expense.
The IG also suggested proper lighting arrangements and assured full cooperation to the administration.
He informed that metal detectors had been installed at important religious places and any ''subversive attempt'' would be foiled.
District Magistrate Amrit Abhijat said a special drive to urge people to remove black films from wind screen of four wheelers would begin from March 16.
Senior Police Superintendent Vijay Singh Meena suggested for issuance of proper identity cards to the hired security personnel.
A special team comprising magistrates and police circle officers had also been formed for keeping vigil at important places.
