Holi celebrated with religious frevour

Guwahati, Mar 14 (UNI) Holi was celebrated with religious fervour in Asom.

Youngsters and old alike joined in the festivities and sprinkled colours on each other. In Guwahati, holi enthusiatics, particularly teenagers, were seen in large numbers along street corners and roads, smeared with colours of all hues.

Naam-kirtan and melas were also organised in various parts of the city as part of the festival.

Meanwhile, four-day-long 'dol utsav' in famous Barpeta Satra of the state began yesterday.

Aire-works display by artisans was organised on the first day of Holi celebrations there.

On occasion of 'bhordol' today, various cultural programmes have been organised by the authorities of this historic satra.

Social organisations have also organised various shows and competitions on the occasion.
