Gitanjali Gems to open Boutique SEZ in Hyderabad soon

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) Gitanjali Gems has announced that commercial operations at the Rajiv Gems Park, a gems and jewellery boutique SEZ that is coming up at Shamsabad in Hyderabad, will commence in the second half of 2006.

This was confirmed at a review meeting held recently between Mr.

Mehul Choksi, chairman, Gitanjali Group, the promoter of the SEZ, and Mr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the Company informed the BSE today.

The Rajiv Gems Park offers companies a unique combination of diamond, gemstone and jewellery manufacturing facilities for the export and domestic markets, as well as a permanent exhibition venue.

The ''Boutique SEZ'', the first of its kind in India, will take the concept of SEZ one step further and provide a gamut of facilities and services not offered anywhere before, stated the communique, adding that ''it is being specially designed in association with international consultants Jurong, from Singapore.

Out of the 200 acres of land reserved for this project by the AP government, the development plan has already begun on 75 acres and the SEZ will house over 100 units, the communique stated.
