Doctor operated upon after his release by dacoits

Morena, MP, Mar 14 (UNI) Dr Narayan Hari Sharma, the son of former Congress MP and freedom fighter Radhacharan Sharma, who was admitted to hospital minutes after his release today by the Charna Sikarwar dacoit gang, was operated upon following wounds on his back.

Police admitted Dr Sharma to hospital, where doctors removed 200 gm puss from the wound on his back.

Dr Sharma (57), who was held captive for 40 days, was located by a police party in the forest at Jhundpura village. Later, he was hospitalised.

Mr Sharma said two members of the gang had abducted him near Rampur along with his car. ''The bandits treated me inhumanly and used to beat me with belts causing wounds and infection on my back''.

Meanwhile, deputy Inspector-General of Police Arun Pratap Singh said the dacoits released Dr Sharma in view of intense police pressure.

''The gang has a wide network and is active in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The gang has carried out eight abductions so far,'' he added.
