Deranged UP man, missing for 7 yrs, found in Bangladesh prison
Pratapgarh, Mar 14 (UNI) A deranged man, missing for the last seven years, has been found imprisoned in the Rajshahi jail in Bangladesh, under charges of entering the country without passport and visa.
Matapher Verma, who is mentally retarded, of village Deidih under Kotwali Patti area of Pratapgarh had gone missing seven years back.
His family members searched extensively but found no trace of him.
However, recently they received a notice from Bangladesh government that Matapher was jailed there as he had been caught on charges of having entered the country illegally and possessed no valid documents to prove his credentials.
The Vermas communicated with the Bangladesh jail authorities, who confirmed Matapher's presence in that country.
Yesterday, his mother Mahadevi met Police Superintendent Prem Prakash and sought the government's help to secure the release of her son.
Meanwhile, Mr Prakash had directed the local intelligence unit to take suitable action in this regard.
