Dacoits release doctor after 40 days

Morenam, Madhya Pradesh, Mar 14 (UNI) Former Congress MP and freedom fighter Radhacharan Sharma's son Dr Narayan Hari Sharma was released today by the Charna Sikarwar dacoit gang after being held hostage for 40 days, police said.

Dr Sharma was located by a police party in the forest at Jhundpura village and taken to his residence here. Later he was hospitalised as he was not well.

He was abducted while returning to Ambah after attending a marriage at Gwalior on February 2. Three members of the gang were arrested yesterday, police added.

Meanwhile, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Dinesh Kumar Dixit, who was kidnapped by the Puran Kachhi gang on March 2 from the forest in Ghatigaon area of Gwalior, escaped last night and reached the police station, a report from Gwalior said.

A night patrolling team located him on the national highway in Old Chhavni area, police said.
