Colourful Holi celebrations begin in Manipur
Imphal, Mar 14 (UNI) The five-day long 'Yaoshang' or 'Holi' celebrations began in Manipur from today.
The Assembly, which is now in session, government offices, schools and universities, have been closed down.
Huge crowds were seen in the markets buying new clothes on the occasion.
Girls were seen asking for money from any passerby to organise 'Thabal Chongba' or the moonlight dance at night in all the five days.
Young boys and girls, attired in traditional costume, will dance in a circle fashion in accordance with traditional customs.
Governor Dr S S Sidhu, chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh and other dignitaries greeted the people of the state on the occasion.
