Chennithala heads election panel for Kerala

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi today constituted a 26-member Pradesh Election Committee, headed by Ramesh Chennithala, for Kerala, which is going to the assembly polls in April and May.

She also constituted a 44-member Campaign Committee for the Kerala PCC, Congress Spokesman Rajiv Shukla told mediapersons here.

The Pradesh Election Committee includes Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, A K Antony, Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, T B Pillai and P C Chacko as members.

The Pradesh Election Committee of the Kerala PCC will recommend the names of candidates for assembly elections to the Screening Committee, which, in turn, will shortlist the candidates for final selection by the Central Election Committee.

The 44-member Campaign Committee is headed by Vakkom Purushothamam, and includes as members K P Unnikrishnana and A C Jose, according to an AICC release.
