British national remanded to two-day police custody
Kharar, Mar 14 (UNI) A sub-divisional court here today remanded to twoday police custody, the British punjab national who was arrested by Mohali police yesterday for fraud and forgery, during the India-England Test match played at PCA Staidum in Mohali.
Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Poonam Ratti directed to produce Rajiv Moolchandani again before the court here on Thursday.
Seeking ten-day police custody of the accused for ascertaining his links, and aim behind the illegal act and PCA officials involved in the conspiracy, APP J S Punn submitted before the court that Moolchandani has been booked under various sections of the IPC, on the directions of Ropar SSP S P Singh, who took suo motu notice of a report appeared in an English daily.
Before getting the case lodged, legal advice was taken from District Attorney (Legal).
Prosecution contended that Moolchandani, who is a resident of London had entered the PCA media box after procuring media accreditation card from PCA authorities while impersonating as a journalist. Availing all the facilities for which an accreditated Journalist was entitled to, Moolchandani betted on various websites on his laptop from the media box, averred the prosecution, while arguing that how he was issued media accreditation card and on which websites he betted could be ascertained during his custodial interrogation.
