Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) The BJP today criticised the Kerala Government for convening a special session of the assembly after the announcement of election date to enact a resolution to retain the water level of the Mullapperiyar Dam at 136 ft in the wake of Supreme Court order.

Condemning the Kerala Government for not implementing the apex court order, allowing to raise the level of the century-old dam to 142 ft, BJP National Secretary Bandaru Dattatreya said the convening of the special session was in violation of model code of conduct.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the Election Commission should take note of it and find out whether it was proper on part of the Kerala Government after the poll date was announced for the assembly elections, both in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Mr Dattatreya said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should immediately intervene in the matter and ensure that Kerala implemented the Supreme Court order.

The BJP leader criticised the DMK Union Ministers from Tamil Nadu and the Left parties for remaining silent on the issue.
