Youth aversion to politics a cause for concern:Somnath

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Acknowledging that the present day youth's growing aversion to politics is a cause for concern, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today advised them that there is no better alternative to parliamentary governance.

''There is no system of governance better than parliamentary governance at this juncture and political activity is necessary for every youth of this country,'' the Speaker said in his address to a Parliamentary Forum on Youth.

He suggested that the young MPs make use of the 24-hour Lok Sabha television channel for expressing their views on the problems of youth. Parliamentary Fora on population and family welfare were on the anvil in line with the fora on youth, children and water conservation, he said.

The meeting was convened to get the views of young MPs on draft National Plan of Action for Youth.
