XLRI embarks on Leadership expedition

Kolkata, Mar 13 (UNI) Students of XLRI School of Management and Human Relations, Jamshedpur, today embarked on the first XLRI Leadership Expedition (XLE) to the Mount Everest Base Camp.

The objective of the XLRI Leadership Expedition is to aid in developing leadership traits amongst the participants.

"In order to address this, all XLRI Leadership Expeditions will take up a cause where students of XLRI will contribute towards a relevant social/environmental issue," XLRI director N C Raj told reporters.

"This year XLRI Leadership Expedition year aims to generate AIDS awareness in Jamshedpur (India) and 7 villages in Nepal that would fall along the trek," Mr Raj said.

"XLRI has partnered with CARE India, who will provide professional training to the students involved in the trek through on campus presentations, field visits to high risk areas for AIDS and interaction with various professionals across India and Nepal," he said.

The 'journey' would involve about 110 kms of trekking starting from Lukla through Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche then Gorak Shep before reaching Everest Base Camp and its overlook at Kala Patthar (18,480 feet above sea level).
