Vijay Kannan beaten; Sridhar, Liberhan, Sharon, Ghouse advance

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Vijay Kannan's straight set defeat in the hands of Philippine Patrick Tierro was the lone setback for the hosts as Vinod Sridhar, Tushar Liberhan, Divij Sharan, Mustafa Ghouse and J Vishnu Vardhan won their first round games in the third leg of the ITF Men's Satellite tournament at the DLTA Complex here today.

Tushar Liberhan was leading 6-1, 2-1 when his opponent Vishal Uppal had to concede the match owing to injury.

Menawhile, Patrick Tierro-Vijay Kannan match was a one-sided affair with the Philippino dropping just three games before winning it 6-1, 6-2.

Vinod Sridhar did not require anything special as the Indian cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 win against Myles Blake of Great Britain, while Divij Sharan made it look like a stroll in the pass as he tamed Julien Maes of France 6-2, 6-1. J Vishnu Vardhan, also, found going rather easy as he beat Guillaume Canniccion 6-3, 6-3.

Mustafa Ghouse, on the contrary, looked on the brink of disaster before he staged a brilliant comeback to battle past Jacob Melskens of Denmark 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

In other matches, Uzbek Murad Inoyatov beat Serbian Dusan Mihailovic 6-3, 6-2 while Kazakh Alexey Kedriouk overcame Korean Hyung-Kwon Kim 6-4, 7-5.
