UGC aid for SVU Dept

Tirupati, Mar 13 (UNI) The Department of Anthropology at Sri Venkateswara Univeristy (SVU) has been sanctioned Rs 54 lakh in financial assistance by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

SVU Vice Chancellor S Jayarama Reddy told UNI it was the first time the UGC had given such a huge grant to a single department under the Assistance for Strengthening of the Infrastructure of the Humanities and Social Science (ASIHSS) programme.

The grant will be given for a period of five years with effect this year, he said.
