Three arrested for betting

Badwani, MP, Mar 13 (UNI) Police have arrested three persons on charges of betting during one-day international match between South Africa and Australia last night.

Superintendent of Police Chandra Sharma said on a tip-off, Vimal Nevtiya, Neeraj Agrawal and Jagdish Wagh were arrested from Pratapganj area in Sendhwa.

The accused were placing wagers over mobile. Betting slips, three mobile phones and television sets were seized from them.

A list of phone calls made from the mobiles has been sought from telecom service providers.

Mr Sharma said the racket was being run by bookies in Indore and Manawar. Police have called technicians from Indore.

The trio were arrested under the Gambling Act but were later granted bail.
