TDP raises breach of privilege against irrigation official
Hyderabad, Mar 13 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly today alleged State Irrigation Principal Secretary C V S K Sharma had committed breach of privilege and contempt of the House by his reported remarks against TDP members on the Sripadasagar Project, which has rocked the Assemby since March 2.
In a notice submitted to Speaker K R Suresh Reddy under Rule 149 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the House, TDP Legislature Party Deputy leaders T Devender Goud and N Janardhan Reddy and Irrigation expert S Maruthy, MLA, took objection to the officer's comments at a press meet in Karimnagar yesterday that the papers submitted before the Speaker by the Opposition alleging fraud in the award of contract for the project were worthless and forged.
He had crossed his limits and duties by commenting on the affairs of the House and especially opposition parties, they claimed.
When the Cabinet as well as the Irrigation Minister was facing the House, it was of no concern to the officer, they said.
Earlier, when the House resumed the debate on the project, the Speaker directed Mr Goud, who raised the issue, to give a written notice for him to examine.
