Sufficient protection to witness demanded

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) A demand was made in the Lok Sabha today for sufficient protection to witnesses against a backdrop of the acquittal of all accused in the Jessica Lall murder case after the witnesses turned hostile The CrPc should be amended to give sufficient protection to witnesses, Mr Varkala Radhakrishan (CPI-M) said as he referred to the Jessica Lall murder case.

The government should also bring in separate legislation to deal with only crime against women, he said during a debate on the demand for grants under the control of the Ministry of Home Affairs for 2006-07.
