Russia to hold fresh round of negotiations with Iran soon:Lavrov

Moscow, Mar 13 (UNI) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today said Moscow would very soon hold fresh round of negotiations with Tehran on the Iranian nuclear programmes.

''A day or two ago Iran again offered to hold consultations with us and they will be held in the near future,'' he said.

He expressed disappointment with Iranian counterpart in the continuing standoff over its nuclear programme, but left the door open for further discussion on a joint venture on uranium enrichment in Russia.

''We are highly disappointed with Tehran's conduct during these talks,'' Mr Lavrov said adding, ''Iran is absolutely failing to help those who are seeking peaceful ways to resolve this problem''.

He declined to comment on Iran's decision to reject Russian proposal to set up a joint venture to enrich uranium for Tehran.

''I cannot comment, as Tehran is sending contradictory signals,'' he said, pointing out the proposal ''never depended on whether Iran would accept it or not.'' ''It was made as part of multilateral efforts in the search for peaceful solutions,'' he added.
