Rs 298.76 crore sanctioned for Dal Lake conservation

Srinagar, Mar 13 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned Rs 298.76 crore for maintenance of the Dal Lake in the Kashmir valley under the National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP), an official spokesman said today.

The amount was sanctioned in September last year, he added.

The spokesman said as of January this year, a total of 22 projects for conservation of 37 lakes have been sanctioned in 10 states at a total estimated cost of about Rs 486 crore.

Conservation works for eight lakes were completed till March last year.

The original outlay for the NLCP during the tenth plan was Rs 220 crore out of which Rs 106 crore have been released till date, he said.
