Rights group files plea for inquiry into Zaheera's flip-flops
Ahmedabad, Mar 13 (UNI) A rights group fighting for the cause of Gujarat riot victims today filed an application before the Nanavati-Shah Commission, urging it to initiate a probe into the conduct of Zaheera Sheikh, the prime witness in Best Bakery case, and others who had supported her when she had made false statements during her deposition before the Commission last year.
In its plea, the group--Jan Sangharsh Manch- said an inquiry should be made under what circumstances Zaheera made the flip-flops and who all supported her or influenced her to change her statements.
''They are guilty of making false statements and also sabotaging the due course of justice of post-Godhra riot victims,'' JSM advocate Mukul Sinha said.
He also sought probe into her connections with an NGO, Jan Adhikar Samiti, run by one Tushar Vyas who she had in her cross-examination, said had financially supported her.
