Guwahati, Mar 13 (UNI) Assam unit of BJP today refuted allegations that there was dissidence within the party over selection of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly polls.
''There may be discontent, given that so many were aspiring to fight polls on BJP tickets. But I am sure there is no dissidence in Assam BJP over party nominations as nobody has lodged either written or verbal protest before the party leadership, said state BJP President and MP Indramoni Bora.
Mr Bora expressed confidence that post polls, the BJP would hold the key to power in the state. He also did not rule out striking understanding with like-minded party to keep Congress out of power after the polls.
''However, we are not game for any understanding with either the left parties or the Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF) which have branded us 'communal'. We are not communal but the AUDF is,'' said the BJP leader.
The BJP which has so far declared a list of 65 candidates for the first phase of polls on April 3 will contest 110 seats out of the total 126. It has so far failed to strike an alliance with any of the Opposition political parties.
The second list of BJP poll candidates is expected by March 20 after being approved by the central party leadership, Mr Bora said.
