Lucknow, Mar 13 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav termed the March 25 assembly bypoll to Kauriram seat as an acid test for the ruling Samajwadi Party.

''The party's performance at the bypoll will be the harbinger for SP's sucess at the next assembly elections in the state in 2007,'' Mr Yadav said while addressing a meeting of district party presidents here.

The Kauriram bypoll will see the ''unholy nexus'' of Congress, BJP and BSP contest the election in unison against the SP and its outcome will reflect the result of the next Assembly elections in the state, which will not be held before the stipulated time, he said.

The SP supremo called upon partymen, to devote all efforts towards, winning the crucial bypoll and pave the way for a two-thirds-majority in the next Assembly polls in the state.

Accusing the Congress of hatching a conspiracy against the SP government in consonance with other opposition parties, Mr Yadav said such ''evil designs'' would never fructify.

The Chief Minister, on the occasion, also listed the achievements of the state government and claimed that UP had made maxium progress during the SP regime.
