Imphal, Mar 13: The Manipur People's Party (MPP), one of the oldest regional party in the region, has been marred with internal clashes among workers owing allegiance to different groups.

About five party workers including two general secretaries were injured in the clashes that broke out last night at the party office here, which was later cordoned off by the police.

President L Borajao issued an order suspending former President O Joy, MLA, from the party.

The party has been facing an internal crisis after the presidential election which was marred by violence, counter allegations and legal tangles.

A Presidential candidate, A K Sanaton has also filed a case at the police station alleging that he had been assaulted by Mr O Joy's family members.

Mr OJoy, who was suspended, refused to recognise Mr L Borajao as the President of MPP and contended that though election was held recently the executive committee of the party was still alive.
