Srinagar, Mar 13 (UNI) The Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit, a constituent of the Muzaffarabad-based United Jehad Council (UJC), has come down heavily on Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf for according a red carpet welcome to National Conference (NC) Chief Omar Abdullah and other Indian leaders in Islamabad.
In a faxed statement here, the outfit said Gen Musharraf accorded a tumultuous welcome to the Indian leaders which was tantamount to a ''sell-out of the sacrifices made by thousands of people of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947''.
The Pakistan government was now contemplating on the possibility of foisting either the NC Chief or moderate Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on the people of the state, it added.
''The Musharraf regime is confused as to whom to choose among Omar Abdullah or Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and then foist them on the people,'' the Jamiat said.
It described as ''big service to the Kashmir cause'' the UJC's decision to stage protest demonstrations in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), over Gen Musharraf's U-turn on Kashmir and his recent proposals to resolve the issue.
