Maran meets telecom service providers for better quality

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Union Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran took a meeting of the Chairman and CEOs of the access providers here today to provide better quality of mobile service in the metros.

It was also decided to constitute a group, to be chaired by Joint Secretary, DOT, to work out the modalities.

The objective of the meeting was to exchange ideas and elicit the views of the service providers on how the infrastructure could be shared for providing better quality of service to the consumers.

Mr Maran expressed the determination of the Government to provide better quality services to the consumers and to reduce the congestion level. He emphasised the need for the benefits of the technological innovations percolating for efficient engineering without compromising on loading in metros, which are environment- friendly and aesthetic in nature.

All members welcomed the initiative of the Minister for extending support for sharing of infrastructure for better cellular mobile services in the metros. It was also agreed that sharing of infrastructure would bring down the capital expenditure and help in reducing the prices at which the services would eventually be provided to consumers.
