ISI spy held

Gwalior, MP, Mar 13 (UNI) An ISI spy was nabbed today and some sensitive documents-including maps of defence organisations and photographs- were seized from him in this district, police said.

Inspector General Sanjay Rana said after receiving a tip off, police kept an eye on Brijvihar colony-resident Madhav Singh and intensified surveillance following Varanasi blasts.

In a joint operation, Special Task Force (STF) and police personnel nabbed Madhav today at his residence. Besides photographs of Murar cantonment area and other defence organisations, maps of Maharajpura airbase and some sensitive documents were seized.

Mr Rana said the accused, who belonged to Rahimyarkhan in Pakistan's Punjab, came to India in New Delhi on January 2005 for the first time on ISI's instructions and returned after 20 days.

On his second visit in August 2005, he went to New Delhi, Bulandshahar and Mumbai. He got himself a driving license while in Bulandshahar.

Madhdav reached Gwalior four-five months back on the instruction of Faiyaz, his officer in ISI. He took a house on rent and with the help of fake mark sheet and ration card got another driving license in the name of Madhav Singh.

Mr Rana said such spies are called 'sleepers'. Their services are utilised in gathering information about defence organisations and sheltering terrorists besides involving in a major incident.

He said, a case has been registered under the Official Secrets Act against the accused, besides another for using fake documents.
