IIMA grad gets highest domestic offer of Rs 34 lakh from RPG
Ahmedabad, Mar 13 (UNI) Even as three students of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIMA) from the batch of 2004-06 got the highest overseas offer of 185,000 dollars from the Barclays, the highest domestic offer of Rs 34 lakhs has come from the RPG Enterprise.
Disclosing the final position the after six-day campus placement here today, IIMA director Bakul Dholakia said the highest overseas offer last year was 152,000 dollars from HSBC, London.
As for the highest domestic offer from RPG, one of the largest industrial conglomerates of India, he said, it is more than double the highest of Rs 14.5 lakhs offered last year by GECIS.
Incidentally, RPG entered the campus placement at IIMA for the first time.
In a new trend being witnessed since the last couple of years, he pointed out, six out of 241 students in the batch of 2004-06 have opted out of the race to set up their own ventures. The remaining 235 students got 510 job offers from 110 companies this year, as against offers from 83 companies last year.
Similarly, he said, 16 students have spurned the lure of overseas placement to accept domestic offers, and in one case at one-fifth of the overseas offer.
Out of the total job offers, 72 (30 per cent) accepted overseas placement at an average of 92,000 dollars, including 50 of them getting over 100,000 dollars. Out of three students the Barclays picked up, two got placement in Singapore, while the third person got it in London, the details are being worked out.
