Give land rights to Hindu, Sikh refugees
New Delhi, Mar 13: Lal Singh (Cong) today (Mar 13, 2006) demanded in the Lok Sabha that Hindu and Sikh refugees from West Pakistan who had crossed over to Jammu and Kashmir following the 1947 partition should be given land ownership and other rights in the state.
Raising the matter during zero hour, Singh said such migrants were being deprived of compensation and educational facilities.
Associating himself on the issue, Prof V K Malhotra (BJP) said there were lakhs of such people and the government should come forward and extend immediate assistance.
