Ex-Minister Shanappa files nomination for RS election

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Former Karnataka Minister K B Shanappa of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today filed his nomination for the biennial election to Rajya Sabha, to be held on March 28.

Mr Shanappa, along with his supporters, came to Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat, and filed his papers. The BJP was likely to decide in a few days about fielding a second candidate.

According to the election notification, the last date for filing nominations is March 17.

The election was necessitated by the term of four members from Karnataka -- K Rehman Khan, K B Krishnamurthy, Bimba Raikar and M V Rajasekhara Murthy -- coming to an end.
