Hyderabad, Mar 13: The Andhra Pradesh unit of Communist Party of India (CPI) today (Mar 13, 2006) announced the candidature of Aneez Pasha for the Rajya Sabha elections in the state.
Talking to newspersons here, CPI State Secretary Narayana said the party Central Committee had finalised Mr Pasha's candidature after the state Committee sent the names of Puvvada Nageshara Rao and Mr Pasha.
''Mr Pasha was involved with the party right from student level and participated in several struggles organised by the party over the years'', he added.
He said the Congress party, as part of earlier agreement, has allotted the Rajya Sabha seat to CPI.
He said the Congress had earlier allotted the seat to CPI(M).
''We have already consulted the CPI(M) state secretary B V Raghavulu over Mr Pasha's candidature and are expecting the election to be unanimous.
The nomination would be filed on March 16'', he added.
