CM visits villages to assess crop loss

Bhopal, Mar 13 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today visited villages in Chhatarpur district to assess crop damage in the hailstorm a few days back.

Mr Chouhan met farmers at Bisawa village and assured them of every possible assistance.

He directed the District Collector to prepare 'Panchanama' for every field by engaging villagers.

The chief minister warned that strict action will be taken if there is discrimination in disbursement of relief funds.

Relief will be provided on a war footing, Mr Chouhan said acoording to a press release here.

He said he will urge the Centre to provide crop insurance through the panchayats.

The chief minister asked the Collector to hold discussion with nationalised banks.

He directed the officials concerned to ensure adequate power supply to the affected villages.

Mr Chouhan also visited Pratappur village in Tikamgarh district and spoke to the farmers about the loss caused by the hailstorm.

State Agriculture Minister Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh and Revenue Minister Kamal Patel accompanied the chief minister, the release added.
