Chhattisgarh Annual Plan fixed at Rs 5378 crore

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Annual Plan of Chhattisgarh for 2006-07 has been fixed at Rs 5378.06 crore including onetime additional Central assistance of Rs 24 crore and Rs 313 crore from the share of Central taxes to be used for special development problems related to tribals and dealign with the naxalism.

The plan was finalised at a meeting between Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister Raman Singh.

Mr Ahluwalia pointed to the Chief Minister that the State should encourage public/private partnership in the development of infrastructure. The Planning Commission offered help to the State Government in evolving models for such partnerships.

It was also pointed out that the state should bring out a long-term rehabilitation policy for the tribals as fresh investments were being encouraged in tribal areas and this would displace them.

The Chief Minister said the new industrial policy has attracted Rs 6122 crore of investment and rural development programme has generated 2723 lakh mandays of work.
