AP Govt starts modernisation of hospitals for Rs 16 crore

Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh Mar 12 (UNI) The Government of Andhra Pradesh has started modernisation works at Vijayawada Government hospital and dental hospital at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore, according to K Rosaiah, Minister for Health and Finance.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday, he said during the last 22 months the Government has appointed 1000 doctors and 250 gynaecologists on regular basis, in addition to 200 doctors in agency areas for better and timely treament.

Mr Rosaiah said the Government has also decided to appoint more doctors and paramedical forces soon in a phased manner.

He said during the current financial year in Krishna District, 13 primary health centres for Rs 3.90 crore were completed and in the next financial year 12 more centres for Rs 3.31 crore, would be completed.

Earlier the minister inaugurated the newly constructed District Medical and Health office building here at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
