All Swantarta Sainani Exp stampede victims indentified

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Bodies of all the three people who died after being hit by New Delhi-Darbhanga Swantarta Sainani Express on March 5 have been identified and handed over to the relatives, a Northern Railway statement said today.

While two of the bodies had been identified earlier, the third was now identified as Amrinder Pandey from Chhapra, Bihar.

The railways also made arrangements for relatives of the dead to travel to and fro from Bihar free of cost. Railways employees would also escort each of the bodies to Bihar.

Meanwhile, ex-gratia of Rs 15,000 had been paid to the next of kin of the dead while Rs 5,000 each to the two seriously injured.

Three people were killed and three others were injured after being hit by the 2562 New Delhi-Darbhanga Swantarta Sainani Express late on March 5.

Railway sources said that at around 2245 hours, while the 2562 New Delhi-Darbhanga Swantarta Sainani Express was being berthed on Platform No. 5 of the New Delhi Railway station, six passengers intending to board the train fell on the track, and were hit by the train.

While three of them were killed, three were injured, the sources said. Two of the deceased were identified as Tilak Mukhia from Darbhanga, Bihar and Sudhir Jha from Muzaffarpur, also Bihar.

One Amit Mishra with simple injuries was discharged from the hospital after administering first aid.

Of the two injured, one Shashi Kant was admitted to the Northern Railway Central Hospital after being first taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. While the other, Anant Kumar Paswan, underwent treatment at the Lady Hardinge Hospital.

Medical bills of both of them were paid by Northern Railway.

Departmental inquiry had been ordered into the incident.
