5 arrested for betting on Australia-South Africa ODI match
Vadodara, Mar 13 (UNI) Five cricket bookies were arrested by the city police there for allegedly betting on yesterday's world record breaking one-day international match between played Australia and South Africa at Johannesburg.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided an STD booth in the Chandralok Apartment under the the Karelibaug police station last night and arrested the five bookies red-handed.
Karelibaug inspector H G Gadvi said besides arresting the bookies, police had seized Rs 11,500 in cash along with a television set, five cell phones and two bikes worth over Rs one lakh.
The five accused, who were granted bail by a local court this evening, have been identified as Vijay Godse, Girish Makwana, Ravindra Patil and two brothers -- Krutarth and Hardik Soni.
