Villages must be self-dependent: Munda
Ranchi, Mar 12 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today said the villages should be self-dependent and the government has intiated action in this direction.
Addressing the heads of gram Sabhas from several areas here, he said one of the step the government had initiated for the economic development of rural population was to encourage the herbal industry in the state.
Mr Munda also handed over cheques, amounting to a total of Rs 78 crores, to Deputy Commissioners of 14 districts, comprising 15727 gram sabhas. Each gram sabha would receive Rs 50 thousand from the said amount, to spend on the development of the village on priority basis.
The Chief Minister said the state could develop with the development of the village. ''The heart of the country was the villages. The gram sabha head would be awarded on the basis of their works, ''he added.
