Pondy Textile union urges to run mill profitably

Pondicherry, Mar 12 (UNI) The Pondicherry Textile Mills Labour Union affiliated to the All India Trade Union Congress(AITUC), today urged the state administration to take immediate steps to run the Anglo-French textile mill profitably.

In a statement here, Union Secretary V S Abishegam alleged that due to administrative lapses the mill had lost markets abroad and the reduction in production had resulted in the loss of the unit.

Alleging that the management was not utilising several machines installed recently, he urged the administration to appoint fresh hands to run the machines to enhance the production and to ensure profit.

Mr Abishegam also urged the administration to provide jobs to the people on compassionate grounds after the completion of their training in the mill.
