NVDA projects to create 2.70 lakh hectare irrigation capacity
Bhopal, Mar 12 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has set a target to create 2.70 lakh hectare additional irrigation capacity from the on-going Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) projects in the state in the next three years.
Keeping the objective in view, the government has ensured maximum utilisation of financial assistance received for the projects, an official release said here today.
An amount of Rs 492.99 crore was spent during 2005-06 from the loan assistance received by the NABARD and the Centre. The amount is maximum utilisation of financial assistance during a year as compared to the last five years.
The release stated that Indira Sagar, Omkareshwar, Rani Avanti Bai, Sagar, Bargi diversion, Maan, Upper Beda and Jobat projects are underway at present.
An irrigation potential for 94,183 hectare had already been created, out of which 30,100 hectare potential was created during the last two years, the release added.
