Mumbai bomb blast case: CBI to file its reply by Mar 14
Mumbai, Mar 12 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will file its reply by Tuesday in response to the retracted confessional statement by extradited gangster Abu Salem in the serial bomb blast case.
Salem had earlier alleged that the central investigating agency had recorded his statement under duress.
Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act court Judge P D Kode had directed the CBI on Thursday to file its reply by March 14, after Salem retracted his confessional statement.
Salem, in his confessional statement before the CBI officials, had stated that he had delivered the deadly weapons (AK-57 assault rifles and hand grenades) to Bollywood film star and blast accused Sanjay Dutt at his western Bandra suburb residence prior to the serial blasts, which rocked the metropolis on March 12, 1993.
The gangster had also admitted to taking an active part in hatching the conspiracy of blasts, besides distributing the arms and ammunitions to the co-accused.
