Mahila Congress call for poll victory in Pondy
Pondicherry, Mar 12 (UNI) All India Mahila Congress President Rita Bahuguna Joshi today exhorted the Mahila Congress volunteers to strive for the victory of the party in the forthcoming Pondicherry assembly elections.
''The UPA government at the Centre and the Rangasamy government in Pondicherry had implemented several welfare measures for the benefit of women as well the rural poor,'' she said after inaugurating the Mahila Congress Conference here.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister N Rangasamy called on the Mahila Congress volunteers to go to the rural areas in groups and canvass for the party in the elections.
Ms Kamalatchi Sharma, All India Mahila Congress Secretary also called upon the party workers to educate the masses on the value of secularism and opportunites available in employment.
She also urged the volunteers to conduct cultural shows highlighting the achievements of the Rangasamy government here, especially in women's welfare.
Women must act as a bridge between the masses and the government, she said and added that they should explain to the masses the various measures undertaken by the government for their welfare.
