Kashmiri youth protest conversion of playgrounds into parks

Srinagar, Mar 12 (UNI) Hundreds of youth staged a demonstration here today in protest against the Jammu and Kashmir government's decision to convert the Polo Ground into a park.

The place is being used by the youths as a playground for the past several years.

The protestors converged on the busy Maulana Azad Road here carrying placards and shouting anti-government slogans. They urged the authorities not to convert the playground into a park.

The demonstrators said there was already shortage of playgrounds in the Kashmir valley and as such more parks need to be converted into sports fields.
