Jammu, Mar 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Industries and Commerce Nawang Rigzin Jora has stressed for establishing commercially viable industrial units which could boost the state's economy as well as provide employment opportunities.

While in a meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Industries Board of Directors here yesterday, the minister emphasised on ensuring strict implementation of the industrial policy for promotion of productive schemes.

He also stressed to rejuvenate the JKI by way of re-engineering and re-structuring so that industrial potential of the state could be exploited properly.

During the meeting, some important issues like restructuring of JKI Ltd, revival of viable sick units, identification of potential fields, liquidation of statutory liabilities including payment of pay arrears to employees/workmen and clearance of pending cases and recoveries came up for discussion.

The board suggested various corrective and constructive measures to streamline the corporation. The Board with its sub-committee would examine some specific cases and submit recommendations and reports for redressal. It also sought concrete proposal to strengthen the corporation and make it business oriented.
