INTUC rejects alliance with AIADMK by TN unit president

Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of the INTUC today unanimously rejected the alliance struck with the ruling AIADMK by the INTUC state President P L Subbaiah and General Secretary Kalan, alleging that it was against its policies and rules.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the urgent general body meeting of the State INTUC here under the leadership of State Vice-President N Nanjappan.

The meeting urged the INTUC National President Dr G Sanjeeva Reddy to remove Mr Subbaiah, Mr Kalan and others, from all responsibilities of the INTUC immediately, for forging the alliance on their own, against the policies of the Congress party and the INTUC.

The meeting also resolved that a delegation would meet Dr Sanjeeva Reddy within a week, and insist on the removal of the two leaders.

The meeting also appealed to the Congress high command and the State Leadership to remove Mr Subbaiah and others from all the responsibilities of the party immediately.

The meeting also appealed to the party's Central and State leadership to allot five seats for the INTUC candidates in the May 8 elections to the state assembly.
