Port Louis, Mar 12 (UNI) India and Mauritius will sign two major agreements on exploration of hydrocarbon resources in the Indian Ocean island nation and on the pan-African e-network tomorrow, a brainchild of visiting Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam.

The signing of the agreements in the presence of Dr Kalam will mark the conclusion of the three-day visit of the Indian President, Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran told reporters here.

He said the large Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Mauritius is expected to yield large amount of gas and oil. ''It will be an absolutely different ball game when the hydrocarbon reserves become commercially exploitable.'' While the Preferential Trade Agreement between the two countries would become fully effective by April, the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement is to be operationalised by June.

The CECPA will help Mauritian products to be competitive in Indian market,'' he said.
