Hundreds of tribal Christians reconverted in Orissa
Baripada, Mar 12 (UNI) Altogether 263 Christian tribals belonging to 31 families were reconverted to the Hinduism today at Sukhuapata village, about 90 kms from here under Khunta police station in Mayurbhanj district.
The mass reconversion ceremony, considered to be the biggest in the state in recent times, was organised at Sukhuapata by an outfit called 'Dharma Jagaran Manch', which is a unit of the Sangha Parivar, sources said.
Manch State President Benoy Kumar Bhuyan and BJP MLA from Udala Ravaneswar Madhei were present at the ceremony. The function was attended by over 2000 tribals from three neighbouring gram panchayats namely Saradiha, Nato and Kalamgadia.
Police force led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Amiya Kumar Sahu was also present at the spot to oversee the law and order situation.
