Anand, Mar 12 (UNI) In a major haul, police have seized two trucks carrying cartons of foreign liquor worth over Rs 15 lakh from Daman to the dry state of Gujarat since last night.
Three persons have been arrested in this connection.
While police seized a truck, carrying 2580 bottles of different brands of liquor worth Rs 10.44 lakh on the Umeta-Anklav road in Anand district, this afternoon and arrested its driver Nainaram Bishnoi of Jodhpur, another 1274 bottles worth Rs 4.72 lakh were seized late last night at Narsanda chowki, near Nadiad, on Ahmedabad-Mumbai highway. Two persons -- Yashwant Savre and Naresh Patel, were arrested. Both were from Daman.
Several such consignments worth lakhs of rupees, en route to dry Gujarat in the run-up for Holi festival, have been seized by the police. A Rs 24 lakh haul was made in Ahmedabad city just two days back.
