Dreaded criminal arrested

Sheikhpura, Bihar, Mar 12 (UNI) A sharp shooter of the dreaded Ashok Mahto gang, Bacchu Mahto and three other criminals were arrested under Ariyari police station area in the district today.

Deputy Police Superintendent (Headquarters) of Sheikhpara, B K Jha said Bacchu Mahto was involved in nearly 50 cases of unlawful activities including the murder of block development officer of Ariyari, Ashok Rajvatsa in 2004.

His reign of terror spread over many districts, including those of Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura and others. He said Bacchu Mahto had escaped from Nawada jail two years ago.

Further investigations were on.
