Chizhenko leads one-two for Russia in women's 1,500

MOSCOW, Mar 12 (Reuters) Yuliya Chizhenko and Yelena Soboleva won gold and silver for Russia in the women's 1,500 metres at the world indoor championships today.

Chizhenko streamed past her team mate Soboleva, who set the indoor world record earlier this year, in the final lap to take gold, making up for her disqualification at last year's outdoor world championships.

She finished in four minutes 04.70 seconds with Soboleva close behind on 4:05.21.

Bahrain's Maryam Yusuf Jamal, who was awarded Chizhenko's silver at Helsinki after she was disqualified for obstructing, came in third in 4:05.53.
