Broomstick seller knocked down

Rajahmundry, Mar 12 (UNI) A 27 year-old broomstick vendor was killed on the spot when a speeding maruti car hit him from behind on the Rajanagaram-Jaggampet highway today, according to police.

Police told UNI that the deceased who was eking out a living selling broomsticks on bicycle was going on the national highway when the car, proceeding in the same direction, hit him. He sustained a head injury and died on the spot. The car driver fled from the scene of the mishap. However, onlookers noted down the registration number.

Police are on the lookout for the car.
